Common questions

Before you book

Is it safe to travel to the Chittagong Hill Tracts and tribal regions?
Yes, it is generally very safe for international travelers, especially when accompanied by our experienced local guides. We maintain strong relationships with the local communities in Bandarban and Rangamati. However, because these are sensitive border regions, special permits are required, which we arrange for you in advance.
Do I need to arrange my own permits for the hill districts?
Not at all! We take care of all the necessary paperwork. The special permits required for visiting the Rangamati and Bandarban Hill Districts are fully included in your tour package. Just provide us with your passport details beforehand, and we will handle the rest.
How physically demanding is this 8-day cultural tour?
This tour has a moderate difficulty level. You should be comfortable with walking deep into tea gardens, hiking to remote tribal villages in Bandarban, and participating in activities like kayaking on Kaptai Lake. While you don't need to be an athlete, a reasonable level of fitness and mobility will help you fully enjoy the experiences.
What kind of food can I expect during the trip?
You will enjoy a fantastic mix of traditional Bangladeshi cuisine and unique tribal dishes. All your meals are included, featuring highlights like a homemade Manipuri lunch and special tribal foods in Bandarban, which may include adventurous options like snail or pork. We can also accommodate dietary restrictions if you let us know in advance.
What should I pack for this tribal expedition?
We recommend packing comfortable, breathable clothing suitable for warm, humid weather, along with sturdy walking shoes or hiking boots for the forest walks and village treks. Modest dress is appreciated when visiting temples and tribal communities. Don't forget insect repellent, sun protection, and a light jacket for the air-conditioned train ride to Chittagong.
Are there any hidden costs or extra fees I should prepare for?
Your tour is highly inclusive, covering all accommodation, meals, transportation, guide services, and entry tickets. The only things you need to budget for are personal expenses like souvenirs, laundry, alcoholic drinks, gratuities for your guide and driver, and any camera fees at specific museums.

10/10 Would recommend them for all Bangladesh tourism!

Mahadi at Bangladesh Eco Adventure and team really made the trip a dream come true — they handled all logistics, were on time, excellent communicators, well priced and had immense local knowledge. We went to the Sundarbans for a few days, as well as day tours in Sonargaon and Dhaka. Sundarbans in particular is a must see. Myself and my friends had a wonderful time and would not hesitate to recommend them as the people to trust with all your travel and tourism in Bangladesh.
